Starting as a mathematician (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), I got involved in studying research and innovation policy at the University of Manchester (UK) where I got my MSc and Ph.D. My Ph.D. focused on creating a new impact assessment framework and methodology for evaluating foresight programmes. Since 1996, when my professional career started I have participated in numerous research and innovation policy studies funded by the European Commission and have also been invited as an individual expert in several expert groups set up by the European Commission. I am currently affiliated with the University of Manchester as Honorary Senior Research Fellow and the Aristotle University as a senior researcher. My expertise lies in the evaluation/impact assessment of research policies and programmes, social innovation along with foresight. My work has been documented in a broad collection of publications in several journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Science and Public Policy, Minerva, Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, Foresight, Futures, etc.
